At 9.00 am we (5 people), were picked up at the Hotel by Andreas of EXTRA-TOURS with a van for 8 people. We made our way in the direction of Sosúa. After a few kilometers, the van turned to the right onto the beautiful tourism mountain road of the north coast mountain range. At our first stop we had a gorgeous view of the Atlantic Ocean. At our next stop, a large stall that sells fruits, Andreas explained to us the various types of bananas. We were surprised that there were so many types, including red ones. Of course we could taste all of them and it was delicious. We also tasted cherries with three pits from a private garden.

Then we got on our way again. The next stop was a coffee plantation. Andreas gave us some interesting information regarding coffee but also always included some history. Now we were not far from Santiago.

Another world was expecting us.
So far, we had only seen small villages on the coast
but here everything was different.
A small city tour gave us an
overview of the city.

We visited a cigar factory (TABACALERA DEL MONTE, S.A.) and made a stop at the famous monument of Santiago.

Then we made our way back across the north coast mountain range. We stopped at a very beautiful restaurant above the city of Moca and drank Dominican coffee. At the end of the trip, we stopped at a river where Dominicans meet for a swim. We ate a grilled fish there and watched the colorful scene. At approx. 3 p.m. we were back at our Hotel and could say: “We saw and heard a lot of interesting things”.
